A native of Cornwall, Ontario, Nicole V. Champeau left at the end of the 1960s to study at the University of Ottawa. A poet, researcher, and essayist, she has written a dozen books, where poetry and essay intersect. She has won numerous literary prizes and awards including the Governor General’s Literary Award for Non-Fiction (2009) and the Conseil supérieur de la langue française du Québec’s Émile-Ollivier prize (2010) for Pointe Maligne.
